Only FTDNA's downloadable database includes the number of testers. Using their stats, the daily run divides the total number of haplogroups by the number of testers. As of the date of this writing we have:

That number is applied to the other databases to get the estimated number of testers. Of course, Open Y's "testers" is entirely fictional. We have no direct testers. (Nor does YFull. They use only the results uploaded to their site.) The calculation is meant to represent the number that is statistically likely to achieve the number of compiled Open Y haplogroups. Like a Y-DNA timeline, it will never be fully accurate.
