SNP TREE BUILDER
Home

This tool can be used by Y-DNA project adminstrators to build a full SNP Tree from a specific group having a common haplogroup. Data is not saved to the server.

Possible Errors

There's only one built-in error for now: If a terminal SNP is not found the process will terminate with a message. Contact me should that come up and state why you believe the stated SNP is accurate.

Notes

All testers must descend from the same topmost haplogroup.

The above example is a .cvs file but uses colons as the separater.

The Topmost Haplogroup must be filled out. For now, at least, leave out the major haplogroup designation and the dash. In other words, YP4248 and not R-YP4248.

Enter PVs (novel SNPs) in one of two forms: 4208738=GT or FTD75718. This SNP appears in an account under Big Y, Results, Private Variants as 4208738GT. Such SNPs are easy to convert.

The EKA field should be simple and straight-forward. Include none other than alpha numeric characters. Parans and a dash should be used only for dates. Any extraneous characters can cause malformed results.

Eventually, the system will detect the topmost haplogroup for the inputted data. In the meantime, enter it but without the major haplogroup or the dash. In other words, enter YP4248 instead of R-YP4248.

This system is new. Because it doesn't yet do a sanity check of the data, bad data will result in bad results. If having problems, please compare your data with the above example before contacting me. In the event of the latter, please forward your input data and a screenshot of the results.
